2018 TEAM OUTLOOK:

Offense: The Indian offense will be led by  Barker, Girdley and Snyder. These seniors hit to all fields and will rely on the Indian's youth to drive them in.  The underclass group of Austin Mitchell and Griffin Hall have experience and look to get better in the coming years.

Defense: Possibly the Indians strength, the infield will be led by Sophmore Austin Mitchell and Senior Chase Girdley in the infield and senior Gage Snyder and Sophmore Michael Cooper in the outfield.

Pitching: The Indians will ride the arm of senior Ethan Barker, a power pitcher who pushes 84 mph, with a good curveball.  Barker will lead a rotation that also includes RHP Austin Mitchell, RHP Chase Girdley and RHP Zach Lockhart.  The loss of 2019 RHP Collin Hudson due to an injury will no doubt be a huge loss, but he should be ready to go by the end of the Spring.

Overall outlook: Overall, the Indians enter the season with a strong senior class and a bright future, with an abundance of talent at the Freshman and Sophmore levels. Pitching depth will be the biggest question for the season as the Indian's youth will be forced to contribute early and often.

2017 TEAM OUTLOOK:

Offense: Offense will be lead by our junior class. Raines, Parrish, Elkins, and McGill will be the center of our offense that will get everything going for the team. Overall, a couple power guys that can hit for contact well. These guys are willing to play small ball when needed. Experience at the plate is going to be the biggest thing for these guys to get. All started as sophomores and most as freshman. Looking for a big year out of these guys and as well as freshman Zach Basham.

Defense: defense is what our team prides themselves on. We look keep errors to a minimum and give our pitchers the confidence they need to not be pressed. Our defense has multiple guys that can play at any position on any given night. Guys are continuing to push each other in practice everyday.

Pitching:Pitching will be lead by Jacob raines, Blane Elkins, and Garett Alexander. All juniors with good placement of the ball. With the trust of the defense, our guys can go out and throw strikes. Limiting walks, errors, and mental mistakes will be key.

Overall outlook:

The Lions will be returning 7 starters from last season as we look to rebound off of last season. We pride ourselves on defense and that is our strong point of our team. Offensively behind juniors and newcomer Zach Basham, the Lions hope to provide some insurance for their starting pitchers to pick up wins. In a tough district including Dekalb, Smith, Watertown, Livingston, Macon, York,  and Upperman the Lions will need to control opposing teams by limiting errors and executing each and every game. Charlie Parrish will be leading the team behind the plate, as trio pitchers Raines, Elkins, and Alexander will be leading the way during district play on the mound. St. John, Calamia, and Alexander will be holding down most nights in the outfield. Elkins, Raines, McGill, Basham, and more will be controlling the infield on most nights at multiple positions. As players are getting more experience throughout the previous two seasons, we are now able to increase the game plans we have for each game. The guys are gaining confidence in themselves and their teammates and we look forward to a bright season.
