NAME CLASS/POS. COMMENTS
1 Kyle Davidson Sr/SS/RHP/RH Kyle is being recruited by several
schools. Was selected Freshmen and Super Sophomore team. Top 10 in
hits his Sophomore year. One of the best players in District 9A.
Career average of .424.
2 Darian Pride Sr/CF/RHP/RH Darian is a tremendous athlete. A
4 yr starter in CF and a career average of .396.
3 Ryan Fears Sr/C/RH Ryan is a 4 year starter behind
the plate.
4 Jared Maupin Soph/LHP LH Jared went 4 - 2 as a freshman
starter with a 2-2 district record.
2016 TEAM OUTLOOK: The 2016 Vikings will be led by 3 seniors who are
4 year starters. The Vikings return 8 starters from last years team
and their entire pitching staff from a year ago. On offense Kyle
Davidson, Darian Pride, Ryan Fears and Jared Maupin will anchor the
top part of the lineup with a combined average of .345 between the
4. Other players made huge strides at the plate including Jrs
Spencer Smith, Tyler Bushnell, Kirk Taylor and Robby Gray. Our
lineup doesn't contain a lot of power hitters but guys who can put
the ball in play and we have a ton of speed top to bottom. We are a
traditional small ball team and we hope to be able to continue that
same philosophy this season.
On defense our strength is up the middle with Pride in cf,
Davidson and Smith at short and second and Fears behind the plate.
Maupin will see most of his time at first base with with Bushnell,
Taylor and Freshman Landon Langley and Junior Layne Tapp working in
at the other infield spots. Our outfield is very fast on the corners
with Gray, Senior Brandon Mooneyham, Sophomore Preston Bennett,
Freshman Darrious Ransom and Brennan Sanders.
Pitching staff will be led by Davidson, Pride and Maupin. We are
very fortunate to have a lot of arms who have pitched in district
games. Last season we had a whole new pitching staff as we had
graduated our top 3 starters so it was a growing year for our
pitchers. We are also lucky to have several left handers on the
staff which is usual not the norm for Class A. Robby Gray, Jared
Maupin and Preston Bennett (who is the cousin of Chicago Cub Rex
Brothers) had great springs and summers on the mound as well as Kirk
Taylor, Ryan Fears, Tyler Bushnell and Landon Langley. The pitching
staff may be the overall strength of our team as well as a solid
defense.
This year we are looking forward to being more competitive in
District 9A. There is loads of talent across the league and some
very well coached baseball programs. Our seniors have been a part of
63 wins so far in their career the most by any senior class so far
in school history so we are hoping with the experiences of last year
and solid senior leadership we can hopefully be able to compete with
the great programs in our district once again. There are no easy
games in our district and looking at the overall success our
district has had sending teams to the state tournament the last
decade or so you know every year to be able to compete you have to
be solid at all 3 phases of the game. We are looking forward to
another fun season of baseball.

Lookout Valley HS 2/12
NAME CLASS/POS. COMMENTS
1 Austin Stansifer Sr/C/P 2015 All District
2 Justice Horton SR/CF 2015 All District
3 Riley Phillips SO/P/Inf 2015 All District
4 Jimmy Wright Sr/SS/P transfer
5 Preston Frashier Jr/P Great Work ethic and command
of 3 pitches
6 Drew Fitzsimmons 3rb Great leader. Will hit it well
for us this year
2016 TEAM OUTLOOK:
Lookout Valley returns 6 starters to a team that saw a good amount
of success in 2015.
Offensively the Yellow Jackets will return many of their top hitters
from 2015. Austin Stansifer, Riley Phillips, Drew Fitzsimmons, and
Justice Horton will be key contributors to the Yellow Jacket's
offense. Transfer, Jimmy Wright, is also expected to have a big year
for Lookout Valley.
LV's pitching staff looks to have a solid amount of depth. Preston
Frashier and Riley Phillips seem to have nailed down the 1 and 2
spot. Austin Stansifer will return to his closer role as well as
pick up some spot starts. Other players that will see time on the
bump are Justice Horton, Triston Dill, Logan Alder, Gavin Slaven,
and Drew Fitzsimmons.
Defensively there are several questions for this years team. The
Yellow Jackets will have several players play in new positions.
Jimmy Wright will lead our team at SS and Justice Horton looks to
have an outstanding year in center.
The big question for this group is how will the freshman adjust to
the High School level? Lookout Valley will look upon multiple
freshman to play big roles on this year's team. |
Rockwood HS 2/10
NAME CLASS/POS. COMMENTS
1 Nathan Briley SR/RHP 6'7 220
2 Lucas McDermott JR/C 6'2 180
3 Will Warner SR/INF/RHP 6'2 190
4 Jimmy Vanosdale JR/RHP 6'3 175
5 Brad Grubb SR/1B 6'3 220
6 Trey Treadway SOPH/OF 5'9 160
2016 TEAM OUTLOOK:
The Tigers return all their starters back from the previous year to
hopefully have a chance to make a run back to Murfreesboro for the
first time since 2013.
Pitching will be the tigers strength as they are deeper than they
have been in years. The pitching staff is anchored by starters 6’7
RHP Nathan Briley(SR), a crafty RHP Jimmy Vanosdale(JR), a versatile
RHP Lucas McDermott(JR), a large 6’3 270 lb RHP Austin Lloyd coming
off a previous injury, and an up and coming RHP Kolby Robbins(Soph)
who saw plenty of mound time as a freshman last year.
There are also plenty of arms coming out of the bullpen for the
Tigers this year: RHP Braden Davidson(SR), and RHP Dalton Monroe(JR)
will anchor down the middle of games this year being relief
specialists. While RHP Will Warner(SR) and Kane Penley (SR) will be
called upon in the closer role this year. Other young arms that
could see action this year include: LHP Trey Treadway(SOPH), RHP
Austin Orr(Fresh), RHP Sean Freels(Fresh), RHP Kyle VanPatten(Fresh),
and RHP Colton Kindrick(Fresh).
Anchoring the defense for the Tigers will be a Senior laden group
starting up the middle with Kane Penley(SS), Will Warner(2B), and
Tarrence Ward(CF). On the corners will be Brad Grubb/Austin Lloyd
at 1B and a combination of talent at 3B depending on who is pitching
for the Tigers. They look to be the steady hand that can lead the
Tigers to another trip back to Murfreesboro. A feat that has not
been accomplished since 2013.
Hitting will be the unknown for the Tigers this year, as this is an
area that needs improving if they are to make a state tournament
run. Plenty of talent exists to achieve this, although adjustments
from mistakes that were made last year must be made. |

COMMENTS
1 John Taylor Johnson 12/LHP Coming off Tommy John (Before
injury was 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA)
2 Lake Underwood 12/RHP/Inf Strong last half of the
year making All District.
3 Jake Pierce 12/OF/LH All District and All Region
last year batting .429
4 Justin Vaden 11/C/RH Had a solid year behind
the plate despite nagging injuries.
5 Bobby Parliment 11/LHP/1B Need Bobby to be healthy this
year in his third year starting.
6 Joey Parliment 9/SS/RHP Started every game
and batted lead-off as an 8th grader.
2016 TEAM OUTLOOK:
Offensively we return 8 of our top 10 bats, led by Jake Pierce and
Lake Underwood. Pierce batted .429 and Underwood .360. We lean on
them heavily this year. We also return Jack Pitman, Justin Vaden,
Mitchell Kirby, Bobby Parliment, and Joey Parliment all of these
young men had solid years at the plate. We will have a lot of
competition for playing time this year, and whoever is swinging it
will probably find himself in the line-up.
Defensively we should be solid. Justin Vaden returns behind the
plate, Bobby Parliment returns at 1B, we feel like we have 5 solid
middle infielders (Jack Pitman, Joey Parliment, Lake Underwood, Luke
Blackburn, and Nathaniel Hall) that will provide competition and
depth and one of these could transition to 3B, and in the outfield
Jake Pierce and Mitchell Kirby return with the most experience but
we have Devin Goodwin, John Taylor Johnson, Hunter Davis that will
provide competition and depth.
Pitching should be our strength as we will be the deepest since I
can remember. We should have 5 that will give us a chance against
anyone (John Taylor Johnson, Lake Underwood, Bobby Parliment, Hunter
Davis, and Nathaniel Hall) We also have 8 others who have shown good
promise on the mound and will provide quality bullpen relief and
late week starts.
We were exceptionally young last year and with only three seniors
last year we return a ton of depth. 14 players played in at least 10
games, and we finished second in the regular season, but come up
just short in the district tournament blowing a seventh inning lead
in the semi-finals to advance to the regional tournament. We must
stay healthy if we want to achieve our goals this year, at no time
last year were we completely healthy, and that will be key.

COMMENTS
1Kendrick Malone Sr. LHP 8-1 1.45 ERA .354 BA
2 William Woods Jr. RHP 7-2 1.86 ERA
3 Ethan Richardson Jr. RHP 3-0 3.27 ERA .444BA
4 Hunter Hudson Soph RH .412 BA
5 Jacob Taylor Jr. RH .443 BA
6 Will Pickard Jr. RH .328 BA
2016 TEAM OUTLOOK:
The Golden Tide returns 7 starters from last year's 31-7 squad
that reached the semifinals of the state tournament. Gone is the
team's number one starter Matthew Pickard now at Union University in
Jackson and Daniel Hodges; a solid second baseman for the Tide.
This year's squad will feature three power arms lead by senior
Kendrick Malone, and junior righthanders William Woods and Ethan
Richardson. Junior Jacob Taylor, sophmores Hunter Hudson and Landon
Pickard will provide depth to the staff.
Offensively, the Tide returns the major part of their order
starting with leadoff hitter Tay Jordan followed by Kendrick Malone,
Hunter Hudson, Ethan Richardson, and Jacob Taylor. Last years team
hit .345 and this year's squad should be just as dangerous.
Defensively, the Tide must replace MVP first baseman Matthew
Pickard and All District second baseman Daniel Hodges. Richardson
and Hudson will be competing to move into that spot. Soph Shortstop
Timothy Fields is penciled in for his second season with a number of
younger players competing for the second base and third base
honors. The outfield is set with Jordan, Malone, Will Pickard,
Creed Temple, and Hudson all expected to see playing time. Catching
will be solid with juniors Jacob Taylor and Will Pickard there to
anchor the defense.
This year's squad looks to make another long run in post season
play. With a number of outstanding Single A squads in West
Tennessee, it will not be an easy task. But quality pitching should
make the Tide very competitive throughout the season. "Because of
the legacy left by previous Peabody teams we have become one of the
hunted teams in the west rather than one of the hunters. This
year's team must rise to meet that challenge and continue the
success their former teammates have left behind." |
Meigs County HS 1/22
NAME CLASS/POS.
COMMENTS
1 Walker Malone SR / RHP & SS RH
2016 TEAM OUTLOOK:
Meigs County Tigers will be managed by first year coach Tyler
Roberts. Roberts, who has been an assistant at Meigs Co for the past
5 years, will be leading a young squad into the 2016 season. With
only two seniors on the team, the Tigers will rely on younger
players to step up into key roles this season. The Tigers posted a
20 win season in 2015 and were regular season co-champions before
being upset by a talented Greenback team in the District 3-A
Tournament. The Tigers are optimistic about the upcoming season as
they look to compete in district play against Knox Grace Christian,
2015 1A State Champion, along with Greenback, Tellico Plains,
Rockwood, Harriman & Midway. The Tigers also are slated to play 2A &
3A ball clubs this season. |
